WEEKLY REPORT - 3(SCHOOL TEACHING)

 

    My third week of internship began with online school teaching sessions. I was assigned to teach class 8 students of GHSS Anchal, West. I taught them "Force" and "Metals" from the physics and chemistry portions respectively. I began my class with "force" from which I taught all portions such as type of forces, frictional forces ,types of friction, thrust and pressure, liquid pressure and finally atmospheric pressure. The topic was very interesting for them and this also motivated me to use all possible aids for teaching them. I used charts, activity cards, sponge, paper, wall etc. to demonstrate the activities. video experiments, slides etc. were also included in the lesson. Atmospheric pressure was explained with much effort as it took more time to convey them its idea.Also beacuse some children had net issues, I had to explain certain things more than once. This somehow distracted me and my time management. I also felt difficulty at times to know whether they have actually understood the concept as they found it difficult to unmute their mics often. Expect all these minor faults ,my classes went good.At the end of the chapter,I conducted an achievement test to get an idea about the pupil's performance and intelligence level,followed by a diagnostic test to diagnose their difficulty in any area. It was realized that they found difficulty with the idea of friction and its types. Because of this, I made a remedial  teaching strategy to implement on them which include more detailed activities and videos that could clearly make the concept understandable.

    However,I had to teach few portions from the chemistry chapter "Metals" from which I discussed about the physical and chemical properties of metals such as electrical conductivity,high melting point and density, malleability, ductility , hardness, sonority ,reaction of metals with water and acids,corrossion etc.Mny teaching aids were also used here such as aluminum foil,aluminum vessels,copper wires,ICT etc. to successfully convey the idea.

   With this week,our school teaching sessions came to an end.I am really greatful to my optional teacher for arranging a nice class for me fortunately.Moreover,the student's active participation and response added to the quality of my teaching.
